SWIM INSTRUCTOR
PAY: Starting pay is $17.50
HOURS: M-F 10A-1P, 3:30P-7P and Saturdays 9-12:30P
SWIM INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety skills to students with varying swimming abilities
- Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities
- Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly
- Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries
- Implementing ground rules for each swim session
- Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly
- Ensuring that the swimming pool, restrooms, spectator, and changing areas are kept clean and tidy
SWIM INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age
- Proven experience working as an educator, swim instructor and/or lifeguard
- Pediatric, Child, & Adult CPR and First Aid certification (before employment begins)
- USSSA CFSI certification (within 90 days of employment)
- Required to follow and teach the Salem Swim School curriculum & lesson plans
- Sound knowledge of water safety rules
- Effective communication skills
- Passionate about working with children
- Growth mindset w/ a coachable attitude

DECK LEAD
PAY: Starting pay is $18
HOURS: M-F 10A-1P, 4P-7P and Saturdays 9-12P
DECK LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leading students & guardians/spectators onto the pool deck area before lessons
- Guiding students to their appropriate lesson stations
- Maintaining communication channels with the front desk, all instructors, and site supervisor
- Testing the progress and skills of students
- Inputting skills into Jackrabbit (our swimmer portal)
- Giving stars and prizes to swimmers that move up in levels and swim groups
- Supporting instructors and helping them during lessons if needed
- Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries
- Ensuring safety standards are followed for instructors and students for each swim lesson
- Communicating with guardians if questions arise during lessons
- Ensuring that the swimming pool, restrooms, spectator, and changing areas are kept clean and tidy
DECK LEAD REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 18 years or age
- Sound knowledge of proper swimming techniques and water safety rules
- Strong swimming abilities
- Excellent conflict resolution skills
- Effective communication skills
- Passionate and enthusiastic
- Loves working with kids
- Growth mindset
- Proven experience working as a lifeguard
- American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
OR
StarGuard + American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
